For the third year in a row, we worked with Google Play to produce Playtime, a day of talks and showcases of Google and Android’s latest technologies.

Feeling supported by Google

App and games developers joined this flagship event from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. At Playtime, they have the chance to learn from the best of Google and Android and feel inspired by the products, support and opportunities available from Google Play.

600 people from 355 companies joined Playtime 2018 in Berlin.

Dedicated to sustainability

The theme of ‘sustainability’ filtered into everything we created.

Plants and materials such as cardboard, metal, wood and fabric were chosen to reflect how developers can build sustainable business models and keep users interacting.

Building upon historic architecture

While hunting for an industrial venue large enough to host the keynote halls, meeting places and networking zones, we came across the historic Funkhaus Berlin in Germany, a former GDR broadcasting centre.

Throughout its raw interiors and cavernous halls, we created bespoke event infrastructure and interactive installations. This included the main stage made of cardboard tubes, breakout rooms using denim and bark and a scooter racecourse over a beach, park and cityscape.

Integrating the legendary Android

The Android brand mascot made appearances at key touchpoints, from the scooter helmets to the laser-etched bathroom signs. And in honour of Android’s 10th anniversary, we created a large Android sculpture made from metal pipes.
